re: HP's Decline: Customers Get Fresh Helping Of Uncertainty
HP has great assets that are hampered by massive overhead (314,000 people) and a team of managers that are trying to desparately stabilize what they have. Don't expect this leadership team to return the HP brand to the clarity of Bill and Dave where an HP product blended elegant design with outstanding quality.
Cloud appeal is about delivering similar or better services at much lower cost and risk. HP's objectives here leave me confused. 314,000 people is too much overhead for a future where highly mobile devices are serviced by vast cloud data centers with just a few people to manage them.
Project Moonshot is another puzzler. It directly threatens HP server revenue position by offering a subpar (Lower performance) product at what a much lower cost. This helps the business model how?
